What's Your favorite Oldies Song?

Music is sometimes like magic: It can mark certain times in certain eras. It can heal a wounded heart or soul. It can change one's feelings with the very first note. It can mellow or heighten your mood. I can't imagine a world without great music.
OK, so I'm sure this has been asked a million times, but true oldies fans never get tired of expressing their opinions and feelings. So tell me; What is your fav? Is there a certain classic that brings back great memories or one that has a significant personal meaning for you? Any that bring tears to your eyes? Also, what do you consider an "oldies" song? From beyond what year do you think a song qualifies as an "oldie"?

Come on guys, don't hold back.

I'm stuck between Deep Purple's "Hush" and "I Want You To Want Me" by Cheap Trick (although Chris Isaak has a spectacular version out)...but The Ventures' "Walk...Don't Run" cheers me and Soft Cell's "Tainted Love" (long version) is special but what of "Stop! In The Name of Love" by the Supremes? (Yes. I dance. We did it in college. Badly.)

Okay, I've decided.

My favorite is "Up Up And Away" by the 5th Dimension. I KNOW. But still! It's dorky but I just love it.

And that's final.

Now aren't you glad you asked?

its impossible to choose, coz there are too many!!
my favourite decade are the 80's and there is an infinite number of songs from that time which are my favourites.
Being somewhat biased, id say "Enjoy the Silence" - Depeche Mode...that song is simply irreplaceable and like a DM anthem for me
if its a non DM song, after reading the question, i just thought for it for a while and the first song that came to my mind is "True Faith" - New Order....its an absolute never-dying classic...plus i always relate to the meaning of the lyrics...
now if i start making a list, it would be endless, so these two would be enough :)

Hey Chewmouse! "Hush" is such an awesome song! I just love Deep Purple and I just learned how to play "Smoke On The Water" (well, most of it anyway). Love "Tainted Love" as well. And The 5th Dimension are a classic. I had kinda forgotten about them.
So yes, I'm glad I asked!

C-ya!

Ana: Oh yes, DM are great and were well ahead of their time... with their unique style and musical flavors. And wow, New Order brings back so many memories; I love "Blue Monday"... always my favorite of theirs.
Overall, I agree: So much great music came out of the 80's. I'm a pure rock fan and some would say that the 80's weren't great for the rockers, but I always begged to differ. Those naysayers forgot about AC/DC, Quiet Riot, Motley Crue, The Scorpions, Tesla, Whitesnake, Dokken, Metallica, Poison, White Lion, Great White, GNR, Def Leppard, The Cure, Talking Heads, Ozzy, INXS, Billy Idol... etc, etc, etc...

Thanks for the comment and I hope you'll check in from time to time.

Rock On!
